Balloon Festival

What is this supposed to be?

One of Provo's well-known traditions is its annual Balloon Festival. It begins at 6:30 am on July 3,4 & 5. Hundreds of people gather at the break of dawn in the large field across the street from our house. Yesterday we heard the music, but we didn't look out the window until after the balloons were mostly gone. This morning I woke up and went to the field to take a few pictures. Ganon woke the kids as the balloons lifted off. They were able to see everything from their bedroom window. It was pretty fun to hear them chat about all of the different balloons and which ones were "about to land on our house." The kids enjoyed it, but I'm glad that they were able to watch from the comfort of their pj's since the excitement only lasted a few minutes.

  1. I am glad you had a chance to take these great pictures. It is almost like being right in your own back yard. Wish we could have been there but pictures are the best thing don't ya think. Baby Sarah has grown a bit and it appears she can sleep just about anywhere. I believe that is a great blessing. Love, Grammie & Grandpa

  2. They have something like that in Boise that I have taken a couple of my girls to see over the years. I have pictures of Bethany and Malia when they were really small enjoying watching the Energizer Bunny inflate and take off.

  4. Balloons?? We went to the Provo parade ...when? Jon and Kel do you remember? and they didn't have balloons. I don't think they'd invented Helium yet.

  5. My friends the Cardon's, used to live in Provo and are now in Ogden. They drove down in time to see these balloons. They had to leave at 4 am. They visited friends in Provo and attended the parade. So it would seem that these events are popular enough to bring past residents back to enjoy them.
