Sledding with Dad

Saturday was the warmest day of the year (somewhere in the low 40's), so we took a break from life and went sledding.  The school by our house has some great hills.  David and Rebecca had so much fun taking turns going down the hill with us.  They had so much fun that Rebecca fell asleep on the short walk home.  It was good to get some sun and some exercise as a family.  Ganon says that snow is much more fun with children.

  1. Fun memories to video. I still remember going tubing and Mom running into a tree. I thought Dad got it on film. Mom is that true or did we only get stills? That was in Utah when I was in 1st grade
I remember another time we went sledding in CA, I was 12. We had to drive up some mountain (sure Dad has a better idea where where went), we stopped at some small road that had a nice downhill slope and went sledding. Ganon would have been about David's age. We had a sled with runners that you could steer but I wasn't that good at the steering part. I nearly hit the Van parked at the bottom of the hill. I let go of the sled and it went right under the Van and out the other side. I stopped in the snow with my face about an inch from the bumper. I was very glad I didn't hit the van, it would have hurt. I'm hoping that event isn't on tape anywhere.

  3. Kel, Our memory of Mom hitting the tree while riding the tube in the snow was 1972 in Big Bear, CA. It was our first time back to the mainland after our move to HI .We rented a cabin and went up with Nana and Auntie Pat. We drove up in Uncle Ben's big black Cadillac convertible. Mom thinks she has a picture of you sitting on the hood. Not sure if we had the Super8 camera rolling. Your memory of sledding was also in CA when we were there on a teacher exchange, 1980. Mom thinks we may have snaps of your memorable ride.

  4. It is a delight to see the boyz coming down the hill. Is that Rebecca's voice we hear cheering them on?

  5. Your ears are very perceptive. That is little Rebecca cheering us on as we glide down that slope. I'll venture a guess that that was Gramma who made that observation.

  6. I heard Rebecca as well and knew it was her. So it would seem that perception runs in the family.
