Today we responded to a neighbor's invite to "all the people crazy enough to still be in town" to come to a potluck breakfast.
The morning was hot but not "Arizona hot". It was pretty doable in the shade. Probably less than 100.
We brought our water bottle rocket launcher. It was a hit.
The event was surprisingly well attended. More than one person suggested this could become a new annual tradition.
After the 4th breakfast we went to the Stapley Pool. David went down the water slide you see in the background. This is a big deal. I don't think he's been on one since he was four. Too traumatic. He was all smiles today though.
Here's a bright smile on Rebecca.
Heidi and I had our smiles on too.
In the evening we ate dinner at Heather's and did fireworks in the front of the house. Heidi's Dad sponsored those. My job was to light them while minding safety. I'm pleased to report no major incidents. Joseph did learn that sparklers are still hot even after they go out. He wasn't burned enough to leave a mark but I do think he learned. We still didn't let him hold any more sparklers after that. Maybe next year.
Sounds like a wet and wild 4th. Your water bottle launcher is always a fav w the kids
