3/7/17 Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Today was a fairly busy day. It started with a trip to the Temple for me. I did initiatory, in part because it takes less time. It is nice to be able to make time to be in that spiritual place.
After my Temple visit it was time for our home inspection. Gary Cornia and Charlie Cluff did the inspecting for us. They were much happier about this place than the last house they inspected for us. It is still an aging house and has a few things that need fixing. Still, there did not appear to be any major deal breakers.

After the inspection Heidi chauffeured us over to the Cubs spring training ball park. Gram, Papa, Becca B and I got to watch them play an odd Italian national team. I say odd because most of the team appeared to be from the United States. I sat by Gram in the accessible seats. We read the scoreboard but didn't ever quite make sense of it.

Here is Gram in her stylish pink cow girl hat. More than one stranger complimented her on it.

Here is a selfie. More proof that I haven't yet developed the skill of natural looking smiles in photographs.

At the park Papa treated us to foot long Chicago Dogs. I thought Costco hotdogs were big but these were massive.
It was a back and forth game. The Italians got off to an early lead. Then the grew it. Just when it seemed the Cubbies were out they started their own run. A couple of home runs and they retook the lead. Alas it was not meant to be. The Italians had some home run hitters of their own. They scored two more runs late in the game and that was it. Game over. It was still fun to watch. I'm glad Gram and Papa took me. They also got some shirts for the kids. What a fun treat.

  1. It was super fun for Gramma to have a play date with you, even though you have a crooked smile in photographs. Going to a ball game requires a large portion of prep and planning. This one was further complicated because of the conflicting appointment with the inspectors. But Heidi and the Valiant Sloan Park Shuttle Service stepped up to solve that problem. As far as another ballgame is concerned we will rest for a season.
