1/13/18 Yard Work and Service

This morning David, Heidi and I went over to help Sister Gonzalez trim one orange tree and remove one that had died.

Brother Crockett is her home teacher and set up this project.

Brother Carpenter also volunteered to come along with his chainsaw. This was the right tool for the job.

Heavenly Father seems to have been looking out for Sister Gonzales. There was a huge pile of branches but David was able to smash almost all of them down into her two cans. We even were able to finish before the trash guy came so she could have an empty can for the rest of the week.

Here is what remains of the dead tree. This felt like a blessed project. We were glad to be a part of it.

Next up we gathered the rest of the family and headed to Gram and Grandpa Mangum's to do yard work out there. Along the way, we listened to "A Wrinkle In Time". I didn't remember it being a religious book but there are several references to Christ and believing in God. I hope those things can remain in the movie version.

After we finished with the lawn and weeds the kids played croquet. Joseph was serious about helping set up.

Here are Sarah, David, and Rebecca.

Along the way home, we stopped at Wendy's at picked up Frosties using coupons that Kelly sent us for Christmas.

This evening was the Ward Chili Cook-Off. The smaller kids loved the bouncy hut.

It felt a little chilly to be having the party outside but we made due.
