7/16/17 DC Temple - Last day in DC

This morning marks that start of the last full day in the DC area. We and the kids have been super grateful that Grammie and Grandpa Mangum have allowed us to stay with them. We could not have done this trip, and seen all the things we saw, had they not made it more affordable by their generosity.

Here is Joseph kindly opening the door for me, unprompted, so I can take the trash out. He is wearing his new SR-71 Blackbird T-shirt from Air and Space.

This morning we spent again with the friendly people in the Annapolis Ward. They are very kind with many people introducing themselves and making sure that we felt welcomed.

This evening there was a DC Mission-wide conference at the Temple called "Why I believe". Recent converts bore testimony about why they decided to join the church. Peter and Joseph were both done with sitting still for one day, I did manage to hear the first brother's testimony. It was sweet to hear him talk about how, while he doesn't have a perfect knowledge, he knows enough that he can choose to believe. The world is a more beautiful place because of his belief, he says.
In the above shot Joseph is facing backwards. Heidi and I are not sure what was up with Joseph this evening. He was not wearing his listening ears tonight.

Our gracious hosts.

Joseph and Peter and I had a good chance to walk around the Temple and Visitor's Center.

  1. Up close to the awesome DC temple is a nice inclusion to your DC visit. The Mangums were indeed a blessing on many levels! Mahalo nui loa Grammie and Grampa. (And I'll bet the Mangums felt blessed to have you 8 trek across the country to come To be with them for a moment). Safe travels to you guys on your return trip
