9/12/17 Hats Off to My Girls

Today, when I picked up Rebecca and Sarah at the bus stop they both had special hats on. Sarah and Rebecca were both chosen as Student of the Month by their PE teacher. They are in different classes but have the same teacher. The teacher felt that they both exemplified the kind of cheerful attitude and hard work that she wants to see in all of her students. As a reward they both got to choose a prize out of the teacher's treasure trove. Rebecca chose a Rubik's Cube. (It's already been mixed up twice and solved again). Sarah picked the dinosaur hat (above). She told me that she picked it out because she thought the little boys would have fun playing with it. Isn't that so thoughtful? I love it that she got to pick a  prize and chose to think of others.

Now you may be thinking "but wait, didn't they both come home with hats on?" Good memory. Rebecca came home with this wonderful crown. Her math teacher rewarded her for getting 103% on the first math quiz. Rebecca reports that the teacher "did some complicated math and decided that the quiz was 6% too hard". Rebecca, and one other girl had scored 97%. After the adjustment they had over 100% and got to be queens for the day. We are proud of both girls for working hard and being good examples with cheerful attitudes. I sure look forward to picking them up at the bus stop.
